Interracial dating is on the rise and more than ever the percent of African Americans having white spouses has actual tripled from 1960. As a whole, between all interracial marriages, they have risen from 300,000 to a shocking 1.2 million as of 1990. About 65% of Japanese marry outside their race while 75% of Native Americans also marry outside their background.  It seems the number if dating outside ones race is growing highest amongst the younger individuals. A recent study has shown that over 50% of teens have tried dating someone outside their ethnicity which is a far larger number versus what it used to be and 30% of those teens who hadn’t yet dated outside their race said they would give it a try. As time goes on the categories that people fall into are not so defined. People are beginning to blend and this makes stereotyping more difficult. Perhaps people are becoming less judgmental and racial hatred is disappearing. Over time we will hopefully deplete racism completely. As couples have children of different races and as they grow up and have children, we will see the statistics of interracial romance rise with time. A lot has changed since the 1970’s for the better and will continue to improve.

Now that you have decided to get back into the swing of things and are ready to explore the dating world, you may be hesitant because there are kids in the picture. Here are a few tips and tricks that will help you along. One, you make and set the rules. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t date seriously, casually or whatever you choose. Next, you don’t need to introduce your kids right away. It can be overwhelming not only for your kids but for your date as well.

Be sure to bring it up but don’t let them meet until they are both ready. Also, don’t jump into anything too soon such as having them pick up your daughter from ballet or whatever the case may be. This puts your child in danger. You are the parent and your child is your responsibility. Be sure you always tell the truth.

Don’t’ lie about having children. The reasons are obvious, it is just wrong and you will get caught. Lastly, don’t apply pressure. The person you’re dating is not your children’s father or mother. You may want to be looking to jump into something to get back sense of a complete ‘family’ but they will run for the hills if you pressure them.

Intelligence is a big turn on for a lot of people.  You don’t have to be super smart, but it doesn’t hurt to sound intelligent and there are a few easy ways to do that.  When you are texting, sending emails or text chatting don’t use abbreviations.  You will automatically appear intelligent if you spell out words for instance don’t type ‘I luvz u’ when you can simply type ‘I love you’.

It can appear a bit lazy if you continually type these odd shortened words that have no reason to be abbreviated.  ‘LOL’ is just fine as that is now a universally accepted word, however, normal words should not be abbreviated in this manner.  Take the time to type everything out, and do a spell check before you hit send.  If your chat program doesn’t have a spell checker or a grammar checker then run it through a word processor by cutting and pasting back and forth.  This is a really easy way to get intelligence points right away.   Frankly, you don’t have to be the smartest person in the world.  It is nice to use the intelligence that you have when you can.
